Building Community Partnerships: Fence Installation Initiative

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company believes that there is no doubt that a community can benefit from the resources and expertise of local volunteer fire companies, businesses, organizations, and individuals.

The latest community initiative undertaken by the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company illustrates and explores examples and strategies for fostering successful business and community partnerships with the local chapter of the Boys & Girls Club of Delaware.

The Boys & Girls Club operates a preschool educational and recreational program within the properties of the Community Church; however, property space is limited and playground facilities have not been available to date.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is a corporate sponsor of the Boys & Girls Club and collaborated with ideas for a playground area for these children.  Additionally, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company allocated property in order to accommodate this initiative as well.

Over the past few months, a local corporate business entity donated fencing to the Boys & Girls Club and Indian River pursued fencing permits from Sussex County.

On Wednesday, August 12th, various members of the volunteer fire company donated their resources and time to commence construction of the fencing in order to permit these pre-school children an opportunity for outside recreational activities.

Illustrated herewith are examples of the collaborative efforts and positive partnerships to better the community that we serve.
