Tuesday July, 7 2015 @ 17:32 Nature: Vehicle Accident Location: Hollymount Rd & John J Williams Hwy., Lewes, DE 19958 On Tuesday evening, July 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Hollymount Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle that was involved in an earlier hit and run incident in the Angola area. Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response assignments included traffic control, incident mitigation, and vehicle stabilization. It appears that a white Ford F150 pick up traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway collided with another vehicle in the Angola area and attempted to flee. During the course of this attempt, the driver did not successfully navigate the intersection on Hollymount Road and collided with the guard railing. At this point, the occupant attempted to depart on foot in a northerly direction. The Delaware State Police were able to apprehend the vehicle’s operator. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
