Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy & Sloan Road, Lewes, DE 19958

On Friday evening, July 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at or near the Sloan Road intersection. It was reported to be two vehicles with one remaining in the roadway and the other on the shoulder of the roadway.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine#80-1 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization and assist with patient stabilization, if needed.  To complete scene stabilization and traffic mitigation efforts. Plan for the temporary closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a silver Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound and a maroon Chevrolet Malibu was traveling eastbound and collided for an unknown reason. The Malibu suffered extensive passenger side damage while the Impala suffered front and passenger side damage.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic control assignment.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
