Nature: Georgetown CHEER Center Patriot Day Remembrance – Flag Presentation

On Thursday, September 17^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was invited to assist the Georgetown Fire Company with a Memorial Flag presentation during the Georgetown CHEER Center Patriot Day Remembrance Event to honor the victims, survivors, and heroes of the September 11, 2001 Terrorism Acts.

This was the 25th Anniversary Commemoration of 9/11, bringing together community leaders and residents to honor the strength, unity, and courage shown in the face of tragedy

Featured Speakers Included:

• Debra Burlingame – Sister of Capt. Charles F. “Chic” Burlingame III, pilot of American Airlines Flight 77, which was hijacked and flown into the Pentagon

• Tom Lombardo – 39-year veteran American Airlines pilot and close friend of Capt. Burlingame; will introduce Burlingame

• Claudia Matteo – IBM project manager who worked on the 25th floor of 3 World Financial Center, directly connected to the South Tower; survivor of the attacks

The program format included:

1. Opening remarks by CHEER leaders

2. Personal testimonies from speakers

3. Question & Answer session

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company acknowledges and appreciates the opportunity to assist the Georgetown Fire Company during this occasion as they had a firefighter memorial event for a member of their fire company.
