Nature: Gas Leak

On Monday evening, July 20^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a gas leak incident off Walker Road in the Long Neck area.  It was reported to be a gas leak located at the residence behind this address.  The correct address of the incident was West Pintail Drive.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Incident Command 80 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were assigned to locate and identify the source of the leak, notify the respective utility service provider, evaluate the residence that the tank was serving, shut off of the valves to the tank and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It was identified as a leaking propane tank from the bottom.  The utility service provider was notified and removed the tank from the premises.

All emergency response personnel were authorized to return to quarters upon removal of the propane tank.
