Nature: MVC – Motorcycle

On Saturday morning, July 18^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad were alerted for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on John J. Williams Highway in front of the Nanticoke Crossing Shopping Center.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper #2.  It was reported to be a vehicle and motorcycle involved.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Deputy 80 from the Long Neck area.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization where necessary, vehicle stabilization if needed.  The aviation unit and all fire apparatus response units were cancelled with one person transported via ground units to nearby medical facilities.

It appears that a person riding a motorized bicycle and white delivery style box truck collided causing injury to the cyclist. 

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
