Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Thursday morning, July 2^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway and Oak Orchard Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a two vehicle accident with no entrapment and possibility of one patient.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were requested to coordinate patient stabilization, where needed, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control as all traffic patterns were impacted for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a white Ford Commercial van and a white Lexus RX350h SUV collided at the intersection, disabling both vehicles in the roadway and resulting in a person wishing for EMS evaluation.

The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close the intersection for the duration of the incident which impacted and altered all traffic patterns.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
