Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Wednesday evening, July 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving two vehicles on John J. Williams Highway at Bay Farm Road. Additional emergency response alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Delaware State Fire Police.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision possibly t-bone style incident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility, Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization where possible, patient stabilization, traffic control with closure of the entire intersection at John J. Williams Highway and Bay Farm Road and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a blue Hyundai Sonata sedan and a black Chevrolet Silverado pick up collided at the intersection and needed EMS to evaluate two persons.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident with the closure of Indian Mission Road.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
