Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Thursday evening, June 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad were alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of William Street Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Delaware State Fire Police.  It was reported to be a car accident with an active altercation issue – all emergency response units were ordered to STAGE prior to the incident location.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments after authorization to respond into the scene were to coordinate patient stabilization and evaluation, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a black Dodge compart car and a white Nissan sports car collided near the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and William Street Road.  Both vehicles were located in the eastbound shoulder and grassy area of John J. Wiliams Highway.  One person was transported to the medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
