Nature: Traffic Collision w/Injuries

On Thursday afternoon, June 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident in the area of Burton Realty – Rita’s Water Ice on John J. Williams Highway and the Nanticoke Crossing Shopping Center.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Delaware State Fire Police.  It was reported to be a multi-car chain reaction type collision on John J. Williams Highway.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Squad 80 and Traffic Control Unit from the Long Neck Station.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery as well as overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a black Nissan Altima struck the rear of the blue Chevrolet crossover type vehicle which hit the blue Ford Bronco.  One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with lane restrictions for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
