Nature: Traffic Collision

Address: John J Williams Hwy and Bay Farm Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday, February 17^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway and Bay Farm Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, Millsboro EMS, and the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported to be a three-vehicle accident with possibility of four patients. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris, traffic control, and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a dark blue Mercury Mountaineer struck the rear of a Toyota crossover SUV which then struck a Honda Pilot.  This rear-end type collision was in the eastbound lanes of John J. Wiliams Highway and rendered two vehicles inoperable.  All persons desiring EMS care were transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close John J. Williams Highway between Legion Road and Bay Farm pending mitigation efforts. Then only west bound traffic was permitted thereafter pending final clean-up.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
