On Sunday afternoon, January 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to establish a landing zone for a medical emergency incident needing aviation.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.  The landing zone was established at the large open field near the American Legion Post #28 off Legion Road and John J. Williams Highway.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews assisted with patient stabilization and transporting from the ambulance to the aviation unit.

The aviation unit transported to the person to the Christiana Medical Center in New Castle County.

All units were authorized to return to quarters after completing their assignments.
