Nature: Structure Fire – Assist Lewes (82)

Location: 1800 Bay Ave Lewes, DE 19958

On Tuesday, December 30^th, the Indian River (80), Milton (85) and Rehoboth Beach (86) fire companies were alerted to assist Lewes (82) Fire Department with a commercial structure fire on Bay Avenue.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was initially reported to be an appliance fire (dryer) in a room next to the kitchen before being upgraded to the working fire dispatch.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response units immediately identified a smoke condition inside the commercial structure with nothing visible from the exterior of the structure.  Emergency response units from Lewes coordinated the initial mitigation responses and downgraded the incident to units on location.

Responding apparatus from Milton, Rehoboth and Indian River were able to cancel and return to their respective stations.
