Nature: Carbon Monoxide Detector

Location: 26619 Whitewater Cove, Pot Nets Lakeside, Millsboro, DE  19966

On Saturday, December 27^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a carbon monoxide detector activation on Whitewater Cove in the Pot Nets Lakeside development off Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be a carbon monoxide detector activation.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an exterior evaluation of the residential facility as well as an interior evaluation. 

There was a smoke condition inside the residential structure as a result of an inoperable fireplace flue.  Efforts to ventilate the residential structure commenced with positive pressure and natural ventilation thereafter.  The homeowner was apprised of the situation and encouraged not to utilize the fireplace until repairs were coordinated.

All units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
