Nature: Odor Investigation

Location: 29708 Purple Finch Ct., Peninsula Lakes, DE 19966

On Saturday morning, December 13^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a gas leak / odor incident on Purple Finch court in the Peninsula Lakes development off Bay Farm Road.  It was reported to be an odor of gas inside the garage area of the residential location.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial 360 evaluation of the residential structure as well as an interior evaluation of the garage area. Various meter readings were utilized as well as discussion with homeowner which identified an earlier issue where service personnel were contacted.  There was an issue identified.  The respective utility service provider was notified and the gas was shut off.

The homeowner was notified of the situation pending arrival of the utility service provider.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to quarters.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with access control during the incident.
