Nature: MVC – ROLL OVER – SECOND EMERGENCY IN DISTRICT
Location: John J Williams Hwy and Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966
On Wednesday evening, July 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a second emergency within the fire district for a motor vehicle accident involving a roll-over. Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and an additional ambulance from the Millsboro EMS. It was reported to be a vehicle rollover into the wood area on John J. Williams Highway approaching Mount Joy Road intersection from the east.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80, Tanker 80 and Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization as needed, vehicle stabilization as needed, traffic control with closure of John J. Williams Highway westbound traffic patterns and intermittent eastbound traffic patterns, fluid and debris recovery where needed and incident mitigation efforts. Two people were transported to nearby medical facilities for observation.
It appears that tan vehicle was traveling west on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway hitting the curbing, drainage ditch and rolled over into the wooded area. The occupants were able to self extricate prior to arrival of emergency response personnel.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Police re investigating.
