On Thursday, July 3rd, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Dagsboro (73) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a water rescue incident off Bay Road in the Pot Nets Bayside development.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, DNREC – Marine Police, the United States Coast Guard – Indian River Inlet Squadron and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2. It was reported that a female person was in the water located between two pontoon boats near the docks where the fireworks were set-off.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Chief 80-15, Incident Command 80, Rescue 80 which were present for the fireworks standby crew assignment; 80-8 with 80 Marine 1 from the Oak Orchard facility, Brush 80 with 80 Marine 2 and Engine 80-1 from the Long Neck facility.  Indian River marine units were directed to the Pot Nets Bayside boat ramp facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included launching 80 Marine 2 and prep for launching of 80 Marine 1.  The Aviation Unit (Trooper 2) as well as Millsboro and Dagsboro marine units were cancelled.  All other units collaborated and coordinated with DNREC Marine Police units on location.

80 Marine 2 assisted DNREC in the area of the Pot Nets Bayside Public Beach area.  EMS personnel were directed to the public beach area bathhouse.  All other emergency response units were to hold if not cancelled.

The person was assisted and EMS services.

All units were authorized to clear the incident.
