On Monday, June 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for the fire alarms sounding on Fowlers Pathy in the Peninsula Lakes development off Bay Farm Road.  It was reported to be an audible general fire alarm sounding at a residential structure for an extended period of time.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews performed an initial exterior and interior evaluation with no visible conditions; however, all interior alarms were audible.

After evaluation of all rooms and efforts to isolate the malfunctioning detector, it was determined that all upper floor smoke detectors were malfunctioning and nearing their respective life expectancy.  The homeowners are apprised of the situation and was contacting an alarm company for equipment replacement and updating.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
