Nature: Automatic Crash Notification

Address: Sailfish Lane and Seatrout Lane Rehoboth Shores, DE 19966

On Thursday, June 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad were alerted for an automatic crash notification on Sailfish Lane and Seatrout Lane in Rehoboth Shores off Long Neck Road.

Automatic Crash Notification Technology is within vehicles and cell phones which utilizes built-in sensors to identify impact either from vehicle collisions and/or fallen or dropped devices that can be immediately connected to offer help.  In many cases, emergency call back (9-1-1) centers attempt to make contact via phone to verify your location and the extent of concern. If there are no responses, negative responses or answers emergency first responders are dispatched to the GPS location of the incident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility. The Sussex County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was able to make contact with the cell phone and identified a dropped cell phone.

All emergency response units were cancelled and permitted to return to their respective quarters.
