On Thursday, June 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a fuel spill (hazardous materials) incident on William Street Road. It was reported to be a vehicle leaking fuel.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle evaluation to ascertain the extent of the leakage.
It appears that the owner/operator of the respective vehicle was concerned about the substance pooling under the vehicle after parking in a residential drive way. After evaluation by the first arriving emergency apparatus, it was identified that the substance was condensation from the vehicle’s air conditioning. All emergency response apparatus were authorized to return to their respective facilities.
The Delaware State Fire Police also responded to the incident location for assistance.
