Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: 26411 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday, June 17^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported to be an accident involving a scooter.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization and evaluation pending determination for aviation as well as traffic control. A potential landing zone location was the American Legion Post #28 and Rescue 80 was to coordinate such assignment.

It appears that a person was riding a scooter, lost control, and suffered a head injury.  The person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the complete closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
