Nature: DSFS Firefighter I & II Spring 2025 Commencement Activity

Location: Delaware State Fire School – Cheswold, DE 

 

On Saturday, June 14th, the Fire Line Officers of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company attended the Spring 2025 Commencement Activities for the Firefighter I & II Certification Programs at the Delaware State Fire School in Cheswold, Delaware.

Indian River has three (3) candidates that participated in the current Fire Academy Cohort which consisted of 168 hours of cadet development and training to be Firefighter I & II Certified within the State of Delaware.

The Delaware State Fire School (DSFS) takes pride in providing high quality emergency training in responding to fires, accidents, technical rescue incidents and medical emergencies.  Each cadet has learned a great deal in a short time period and Indian River is proud of their commitment and undertaking that they have accomplished. 

The Graduates completed their training in the following areas:

  • Firefighter I

  • Firefighter II

  • CPR / Frist Aid

  • Passenger Vehicle Rescue Technician

  • Incident Command Structure 100, 200, 700 & 800

  • Emergency Vehicle Operator

  • Hazardous Materials Awareness

  • Hazardous Materials Operations

The Indian River Graduates are: 

  1. Parker Karpin is an Active Member and hales from the Oak Orchard community and responds out of the Oak Orchard facility.

  2. Kyle Kilgo is an Active Member and hales from the Plover Point development and responds out of the Oak Orchard facility.

  3. Michael Morgan is an Active Member and hales from the eastern most part of the Indian River fire district and responds out of the Long Neck facility.

Indian River hereby congratulates each graduate for their achievements.
