Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

On Saturday morning, June 14^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Oak Orchard Road in the vicinity of Tidewater Utilities.  The Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, Millsboro EMS, and the Sussex County Paramedics were also alerted for the incident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility, Traffic Control 80 as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery and traffic control. 

It appears that a silver Mazda 3 left the roadway and struck a utility pole on Oak Orchard Road.  The utility pole was broken, the utility service disrupted while the utility service provider was notified to coordinate the replacement of the utility pole and service to the Oak Orchard area.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the complete closure of Oak Orchard Road for the duration of the incident.  The utility service provided utilized contractors to coordinate traffic control for the remainder of the utility pole replacement efforts.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
