Nature: Vehicle Accident – Motorcycle – Bay Farm Road

On Thursday afternoon, June 12^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on Bay Farm Road near the entrance to the shopping center.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics as well as the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. The aviation unit was cancelled.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, traffic control and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a white Harley Davidson motorcycle was attempting to avoid hitting a blue Ford compact car at or near the side intersection from the shopping center causing the injury to the motorcyclist. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the complete closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
