Nature: Shed (Non-Vehicle Size)

Location: 32542 East Fairfax Ct Captains Grant, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, June 11^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a shed (non-vehicle size structure) on East Fairfax Court in the Captain’s Grant development off Oak Orchard Road. It was reported that the residents heard an explosion and could see flames coming for the shed.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial incident size up, fire suppression, evaluation as well as overhaul. 

A portable tent like structure was erected in the back yard and caught fire burning the structure in its entirety. The loud noises were identified as canned goods popping as a result of the extreme heat.  There was some ancillary damage to nearby fencing and trees as a result of the fire.

The property owners were advised to contact their respective insurance agency to mitigate any potential damage to other properties.
