Nature: Structure Fire – Shed – Possible Entrapment

On Monday morning, June 2^nd, the Indian River (80), Rehoboth Beach (86), and Milton (85) were alerted to assist the Lewes (82) Fire Department with a working structure fire with possible entrapment on Kendale Road.  It was reported to be a garage on fire and responding units advised the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center of a sizable header column from approximately 1 mile away.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included reporting to the manpower pool to assist with fire suppression efforts or other assignments as delegate.

It appears that a detached two car garage type structure with additions caught fire behind the residential location on Kendale Road causing substantial fire damage to the structure and contents inside the garage structure.

All responding fire units provided on scene assistance before being released. The Millsboro (83) Fire Company was reassigned to provide a cover up assignment for the Lewes Fire Department at their Station #2 facility near Nassau.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of Kendale Road between Wil King Road and Robinsonville Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
