Nature: Residential Structure Fire

Location: 24459 Blue Blvd, Shawns Hideaway, DE 19966

On Friday, May 30^th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Rehoboth Beach (86) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on Blue Blvd in the Shawn’s Hideaway development off Banks Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported to be a residential structure fire within the development.

As Indian River and Lewes apparatus were clearing from an earlier vehicle fire.  Emergency response units included Incident Command 80, Tanker 80, Engines: 80, 80-1 and 82-9 from the previous incident as did Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.  The Delaware State Fire Police provided assistance at both incidents.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial exterior evaluation and commenced with an interior evaluation.  Chief 80-15 identified a smoke showing evaluation from side A upon his arrival.

An immediate interior evaluation identified a stove fire within the kitchen area of the structure.  All utility services to the appliance were disconnected and natural and positive pressure ventilation commenced for smoke eradication.  Units assisted the residential occupants where needed.

All other emergency response units not on-scene were cancelled while responding.
