Nature: Training & Drill – Vehicle Rescue Tactics

Address: Station #1 – Oak Orchard

On Wednesday evening, May 28th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted its monthly training and drill with specific topics and techniques regarding vehicle rescue operations utilizing hydrafusion struts.

The hydrafushion struts are specialized products offered by Paratech that are designed to lift and stabilize vehicles and/or equipment during technical rescue operations.

Indian River recently acquired some of these Paratech products which will be operational with the activation of the new Squad 80. These devices are specialized shoring systems to lift and stabilize anything from a single passenger vehicle to a derailed locomotive.

Paratech offers four major vehicle stabilization systems: (1) the AcmeThread Strut System, (2) the LongShore Strut System, (3) the quick-action Supporter, and (4) the hybrid shoring / hydraulic lifting strut system.

These training evolutions were coordinated with representatives from the Sussex County Technical Rescue Operations.  Illustrated herewith are photographs of the evening evolutions.
