Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Hollymount Rd and Beaver Dam Rd Harbeson, DE 19951

On Saturday, May 24^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Hollymount Road and Beaver Dam Road.  It was reported to be two vehicle rear end type collision with both vehicle occupants still in the vehicle – not trapped just in pain.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Eing #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  Incident Command 80 apprised the Emergency Operations Center that CPR was being performed.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2 and an additional EMS Unit from the Lewes Fire Department.

It appears that both vehicles were approaching the intersection on Hollymount Road when the gray Honda Accord sedan struck the rear of a gray Honda Ridgeline pick up truck causing damage to both vehicles. Both vehicle occupants were transported to nearby medical facilities with aviation being cancelled as per ground medics.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the eventual complete closure of Beaver Dam Road between Indian Mission Road and Hollymount Road and Hollymount Road between Beaver Dam Road and Harbeson Road.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
