Nature:  Automatic Fire Alarm Soundings

 

On Friday, May 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded to multiple automatic fire alarms within the fire district for the following reasons:

•             Incident Time:  09:17 hours

Nature: Alarms - High Life Hazard - Waterflow/Sprinkler

Address: 33579 Windswept Dr The Peninsula, DE 19966

This incident was an automatic fire alarm sounding within the commercial complex.  A second call back identified a faulty alarm with proper passcode wishing to cancel.  Engine 80 was the responding apparatus that proceeded to the incident location.

•             Incident Time:  14:00 hours

Nature: Alarms - Residential (Single) - General/Fire

Address: 33332 Marina Bay Circle The Peninsula, DE 19966

This incident was an automatic fire alarm sounding within the residential structure.  A second call back identified a faulty alarm with proper passcode wishing to cancel.  Tower 80 and Engine 80 were responding to the incident location upon cancellation.

•             Incident Time:  16:02 hours

Nature: Alarms - Commercial Structure

Address: 33580 Windswept Dr The Peninsula, DE 19966

This incident was an automatic fire alarm sounding within the commercial residential structure.  Tower 80 and Engine 80 were responding to the incident location.  After evaluation, all units were cleared and this location placed on officers call for 24 hours.

Faulty fire alarms, false alarms, and malfunctioning fire alarms are one of the most frustrating issues with fire alarm systems that many fire departments are encountering on a widespread basis.
