Automatic Crash Notification Technology is within vehicles and cell phones which utilizes built-in sensors to identify impact either from vehicle collisions and/or fallen or dropped devices that can be immediately connected to offer help. In many cases, emergency call back (9-1-1) centers attempt to make contact via phone to verify your location and the extent of concern. If there are no responses, negative responses or answers emergency first responders are dispatched to the GPS location of the incident.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.
Emergency response crew assignments included an area survey and evaluation of the location for the specific concern which identified a cell phone laying in the roadway. All emergency response units were cancelled and permitted to return to their respective quarters as the cell phone was turned over to the Delaware State Police.
