Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics

Location: 34184 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday evening, April 24^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident with medics on Long Neck Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.  It was reported to possibly be a head-on collision near the entrance to Rehoboth Shores.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, fluid & debris recovery, traffic control with closure of Long Neck Road, and other overall incident mitigation tactics.

It appears that a white Honda Accord sedan and a black Dodge Pick-up collided on Long Neck Road prior to Rehoboth Shores.  Both vehicles sustained damage with at least one person being transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.  Aviation and other EMS units were cancelled before arriving at the incident location.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the complete closure of Long Neck Road for the duration of the incident.  Traffic alerts and detours were organized via Pot Nets Security thru Pot Nets Bayside.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
