Nature: Automatic Crash Notification – Rollover / MVC

Location: 24131 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday morning, April 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near the intersection of Banks Road.  It was originally reported as an Automatic Crash Notification incident but amended to a vehicle accident with possible rollover with possible entrapment.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization if necessary, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a silver Honda Civic was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and left the roadway for an unknow reason running into the wooded area parallel to the roadway.  The occupant self-extricated prior to arrival of emergency response resources and was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observations.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
