Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment
Location: Indian Mission Rd and Harmons Hill Rd Millsboro, DE 19966
On Saturday evening, April 5th, the Indian River (80) and Millsboro (83) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment on Indian Mission Road near Harmons Hill Road. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines 80-1, Command 80 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Rescue Assist units from the Millsboro Fire Company included Rescue 83 and Squad 83.
Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, and traffic control for the duration of the incident. The occupant was able to self-extricate from the vehicle.
It appears a silver Nissan 4-door sedan was traveling on Indian Mission Road and left the roadway striking a large metal utility pole rendering the vehicle inoperable and blocking the roadway. The vehicle occupant was able to self-extricate and refuse any additional EMS attention.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
