Nature: Medical Emergency

City: Winding Creek Village

On Monday morning, March 31st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a medical emergency which necessitated a landing zoning assignment.  The landing zone was designated to be within the Winding Creek Village development off Banks Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics and the Millsboro EMS unit as well as the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control and securing the landing zone for the aviation unit as well as assisting EMS personnel.  The aviation unit was cancelled.

The patient suffered a medical condition which necessitated transportation to other medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control where needed.
