Nature: Vehicle Accident Involving School Bus

Location: Baylis Av and Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday, March 24^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road in the vicinity of Baylis Avenue involving a school bus.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines 80 and 80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included adherence to school bus incident protocol, notification of the school transportation representative, traffic control and overall incident mitigation. There were sixteen (16) students on the bus; however, no injuries were reported.

It appears that a white box truck type vehicle and a school bus hit mirrors on Mount Joy Road. The white box truck did not stop.  There were not any injuries associated with the incident.

The school bus accident protocol was adhered to with all the necessary procedures and documentation being completed.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
