Nature: Trailer Fire

Location: 35005 Starboard Ct Rehoboth Shores, DE 19966

On Tuesday, March 11^th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82) and Millsboro (83) fire departments were alerted for a trailer fire on Starboard Court in the Rehoboth Shores development off Long Neck Road. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics. It was reported that the reporting person sees smoke coming from the pantry inside the structure.

Emergency response units from the Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial exterior evaluation as well as discussion with occupant of the residence before commencing with an interior evaluation. The source of the issue was determined to be the microwave oven which was the reason for the smoke.  All responding apparatus other than Indian River was cancelled and permitted to

It appears that the microwave was being utilized for cooking purposes during the incident. Assistance was provided to the homeowner with removal of smoke and odor from the residence.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.
