Nature: Medical Emergency - Landing Zone Assignment

On Friday morning, March 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a medical emergency which necessitated a landing zoning assignment. The landing zone was designated to be adjacent to Indian River’s Station #2 in Long Neck.
Emergency response units from Indian River include Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional emergency alerts included an EMS unit from Millsboro and the Sussex County Paramedics as well as the LifeNet 2 Aviation Unit.
Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control and securing the landing zone for the aviation unit as well as assisting EMS personnel with patient transfer at the scene and from the ambulance to the aviation unit.
The patient suffered a medical condition which necessitated transportation to other medical facilities.
The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control where needed.
