Nature:  Final Tribute for Christ Harsh from Indian River

On Thursday, March 6th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company participated in their final tribute for Christ L. Harsh, Jr.  A dedicated volunteer who served as our Fire Police Captain for the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company.  Christ was also a firefighter with the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company when he is was not serving as a fire police officer.

Christ was an active part of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company for more than 11 years.

The funeral service was officiated by Rev. J. Allen Miller of the Community Church of Oak Orchard.  Our Acting Fire Police Captain William F. Tobin, Jr. spoke and provided an overview of Christ’s legacy with Indian River.

Christ’s funeral procession originated at Melson’s Funeral Home in Long Neck, and traveled west on John J. Williams Highway, to Oak Orchard Road, Chief’s Road and River Road, back to Indian River’s Main Station in Oak Orchard. At the Main Station, the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center sounded his last alarm. The funeral procession then continued to the place of Interment at the Veteran’s Cemetery near Stockley, Delaware. A family reception was scheduled thereafter.

Thank you for your service and may your Rest In Peace.
