Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: 29912 Mount Joy Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday evening, March 1^st, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83) volunteer fire companies were alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment on Mount Joy Road between Cannon Road and Peaceful Way.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics and the Milton (85) fire department.  It was reported to be a two vehicle collision with possibility of four (4) persons needing medical attention with two occupants entrapped in one vehicle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional EMS units were requested to the incident location from Millsboro EMS, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2 and the LifeNet Aviation Unit.  Other ancillary resources were requested from the Delaware Department of Transportation to mitigate the road closure concerns.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, patient extrication from the vehicle, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery.  The additional resources were directed to the Mother Mary of Peace Church for landing zone and staging area for transport.

It appears that a black Lincoln sedan and red Kia Soul collided on Mount Joy Road between Cannon Road and Peaceful Way causing significant injuries to all occupants. 

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident with Mount Joy Road being closed between Cannon Road and Maryland Camp Road.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
