Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics
Location: John J Williams Hwy and Sloan Rd Harbeson, DE 19951
On Tuesday afternoon, February 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision on John W. Williams Highway just east of Sloan Road. It was reported to be a two vehicle incident with three (3) people desiring evaluation and debris clean up. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine 80 and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control and overall incident mitigation
Some emergency response apparatus were redirected to a reported cardiac arrest in the Stonewater Creek development before arriving at the vehicle accident.
This incident involved two vehicles and closed a section of John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the event because it was in the area near Burton’s Pond. One person was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional evaluation.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
