Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: 34003 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday, February 10^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road which was upgraded to include occupant entrapment.  The Lewes (82) Fire Department, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Sussex County Paramedics were also alerted to assist with the incident mitigation activities.  It was initially reported to be a single vehicle on side into the trees on Long Neck Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization if needed, vehicle stabilization if needed, assistance with extrication when needed, traffic control and incident mitigation efforts.   Other responding apparatus were cancelled before arrival at he incident location.

It appears that a silver Hyundia Tucson left the roadway and overturned into the wooded area.  The occupant was unable to exit and others offended assistance removing the occupant through the sunroof.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinate traffic control with the closure of Long Neck Road and Pot Nets Security coordinated detour assistance through their development.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
