On Thursday morning, January 30th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a medical emergency involving an unconscious subject which necessitated a landing zoning assignment.  The landing zone was designated to be adjacent to Nanticoke Indian Museum off Oak Orchard Road and John J. Williams Highway.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics as well as the aviation unit – LifeNet 2.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control and securing the landing zone for the aviation unit as well as assisting EMS personnel with patient transfer at the scene and from the ambulance to the aviation unit.

The patient suffered a medical condition which necessitated transportation to other medical facilities in New Castle County.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.
