Nature: Commercial Fire Alarm Sounding

Location: Baywoods Clubhouse (80)

32267 Clubhouse Way Baywood, DE 19966

On Thursday afternoon, January 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a commercial fire alarm sounding at the Baywood Clubhouse facility. It was reported to be a residential fire alarm sounding.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Incident Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation efforts with discussion with occupants, exterior evaluation nothing evident and an interior evaluation which yielded water from the ceilings on the first floor as well as waterflow alarms and an odor of electrical concern.  This was directly associated with the extended period of inclement weather.

The commercial occupants were notified that the water and fire sprinkler suppression system was being shut-off pending notification and repairs of certified contractors as well as a water restoration company.  The electrical service was also recommended to be discontinued pending resolution of the issue.  The implementation of a fire watch crew was requested until the system was restored to normal operations.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective stations.
