Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment

Location: Long Neck Rd and Clam Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday evening, January 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road near Clam Road.  It was reported to be a vehicle off the roadway into a tree and was upgraded to include occupant entrapment.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2, and the Lewes Fire Department for a rescue assist.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, preparation for extrication, traffic control with roadway closure, establishment of a landing zone and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a black Ford F150 Raptor SVT pick up was traveling on Long Neck Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason striking a tree causing occupant entrapment.  This was an extended extrication process.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit landed at Massey’s Landing Public Ramp awaiting determination of flight instructions.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
