Nature: Gas Leak
Location: 27296 18Th Blvd., The Peninsula, DE 19966
On Friday, January 17th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a gas leak incident on 18th Blvd in the Peninsula development off Bay Farm Road. It was reported that the property owner was smelling gas inside the residence.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.
Emergency response crew assignments included an exterior evaluation of the facility as well as an interior evaluation after consultation with the property owner.
It appears that the occupants smelled gas possibly from the fireplace area and called for the fire company. Additional checks with the gas meters identified the concern was in fact with the fireplace pilot and advised the occupants to consult with a certified contractor.
All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective stations.
