Nature: Gas Leak

Location: 33446 Islander Dr. The Peninsula, DE 19966

On Sunday, January 5^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a gas leak incident on Islander Drive in the Peninsula development off Bay Farm Road.  It was reported that the property owner was smelling gas inside the residence.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Incident Command 80, Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and #80-1 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included initial engine getting the hydrant, an exterior evaluation of the facility and well as an interior evaluation after consultation with the property owner. 

It appears that the occupants smelled gas and called for the fire company.  Additional checks with the gas meters yielded no meter reading on the interior of the residence, in the crawl space nor outside of the residence. The incident was identified as good intent and unfounded.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective stations.
