Nature: Carbon Monoxide Detector

City: Nelsa Lane, The Meadows

On Sunday morning, January 5th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a carbon monoxide detector activation on Nelsa Lane in the Meadows development off Oak Orchard Road.  It was reported that the carbon monoxide detectors were sounding within the residence.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Command 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments completed a 360 exterior evaluation of the residential structure, initiated monitoring and evaluation of the interior of residence with specific detection and readings.  The property owners initiated natural ventilation and assistance was requested from the utility service provider.

After consultation with the residential occupant, it was determined what the cause of the detector activation was and remediation should be initiated prior to restarting the heating systems.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
