Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 27440 South Nicklaus Av., The Peninsula, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, January 3^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire incident on South Nicklaus Avenue in the Peninsula off Bay Farm Road.  It was reported that a candle in the bathroom started a fire.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included a initial exterior and interior evaluation of the residential structure, location of the nearest hydrant, immediate discussion with the homeowner.  An immediate interior evaluation and assistance with positive pressure ventilation was coordinated.  There was not any extension into the structure.

It was identified that the candle caught fire and the homeowner threw the candle in a sink for extinguishment and requested evaluation by the fire company.  The fire company assistance the homeowner with ventilation.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

All units were permitted to return to their respective quarters.
