Nature: Vehicle Fire

Location: 31241 Barnacle Blvd., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, December 18^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for vehicle fire on Barnacle Blvd off Layton Davis Road.  It was reported that a commercial body truck was involved.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression activities with the deployment of two 1¾” attack lines, verify the contents of the materials in the back of truck, monitor the integrity of the overhead electrical wirings, establish a water supply, and eliminate any exposure issues.

Upon arrival of emergency response crews, it was identified to be a Ford F350 Crew Cab stake body truck loaded with pallets and construction materials fully involved.  The bulk of the fire encompassed the engine and occupant compartments of the truck.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
